OMG:
Does anyone else find OneWaterloo's restriction of only wearing black and gold in a PRIDE parade a little odd? I understand school pride but, pride is about diversity why wear all black and gold when the school has a rainbow of faculty colors?

I think it's to show a togetherness as a Waterloo community. I think you're free to bring other pride related articles though!

I agree with 1. I don't believe that One Waterloo is trying to stifle you, but the fact is that they're trying to represent our school so they would like if you could wear black and gold. And as far as I know you aren't restricted to only black and gold. They said wearing other colours is fine. They just give you a black and gold shirt for the pride event and ask that you wear it if you choose march with them.

I've been to Pride in Toronto before, and there are MILLIONS of people there. I think One Waterloo just wants everyone to stand out, and represent UW among the masses. :)

July 5th @ 9:00 AM, SLC GREAT HALL - ENOUGH complaining on some random site. It is time to make our voices heard. I am organizing a protest. Bring your issues, upon arrival just sit in front of the FEDS office. Do not cause a disturbance, you will be kicked out. Just occupy the office, occupy the space in front of the office. WE SHALL HAVE OUR ANSWERS!!!

It isn't about pride, it's about uniformity. UW likes to create little drones that do not question authority nor critical thinking. I did not sign a waiver stating I am only to wear something that is approved by an unelected authority. It's censorship, plain and simple. If you want to wear black and gold any of the other 364 days that's fine, for pride wear what you feel is right.
