Did you run OP? Did you vote OP? If so, and it didn't work, I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities for you to participate with the elected group. If not, STFU.
Because it's all a joke of a popularity contest where the most narcissistic dolt feels it would look good on a resume to complement their classical arts degree. The one voted in is the one with the most Facebook friends or in a frat/sorority. It has nothing to do with putting the best person in the position.
If you want to complain about it OP, why don't you try doing something about it instead of hiding behind a website anonymously? I have a lot of respect for the FEDS exec and I think they are doing a great job :) Elections are and will always be a popularity contest, deal with it.
FEDS is essentially a popularity contest, and I don't think the position gives you that much of an advantage in the work force. It's more about receiving a cumulative recognition from your various undergraduate experiences - not so much your professional experience.
I think the FEDS Presidents over the past few years have been mediocre and continue to be. I doubt Andrew Noble will be able to accomplish what he sets out to judging by his past work, but perhaps this will assist in motivating him (if he reads it, of course).
Do you even know what the execs do? Or what Feds provides? Compare the cost of a sandwich at Food Services to the cost of a sandwich at Fed Xpress - the latter will be cheaper. You have a UPass because of Feds (the full cost of a bus pass for the summer is A LOT more). The Bomber is run by Feds, and Campus Bubble.
It takes courage to run in any type of election because you'll have to prove yourself, and face negative comments with no basis in fact like the one you posted.
Get involved if you actually have legitimate concerns instead of bitching on an anon website.
For those saying that the FedS elections are just a popularity contest, the basis of all elections everywhere is popularity. So you can't blame FedS or the people who got elected for that.
For those who are basing Andrew Noble, he's only been in office for what, less than 2 months? Give him a chance. And while he still may not be your favourite person, there are 3 other execs and a bunch of other people involved with FedS who are wonderful, passionate, hard-working people that are a pleasure to get to know and have lots of great plans for this year.
I'm pissed that they keep saying they will wrap up Fed Hall but THEY'VE DONE NOTHING about this. They should be telling the admin to give the freaking keys back to students who paid for the building. They are turning Fed Hall into office space and the Feds Exec do nothing.
^--Certainly poor leadership on the past FEDS executive team. The Board of Governors meeting was awful when Feridun Hamdullahpur basically told Matt Colphon to make all students leave, and Colphon supported it.
The FEDS executives don't actually make any big decisions. It's the full-time employees of FEDS that have been working there for decades that do. The FEDS executive respect that they are only there for about a year unless they re-run. The FEDS executives are just puppets and make vain attempts of lobbying.
@18 We are getting involved. We are expressing our displeasure via an internet medium. You seem kind of dumb as you used the same medium to voice your approval yet insist on other people not using it. Pot meet kettle.
i hate people who bitch but do nothing about it but whine online... GET INVOLVED. Feds is supposed to represent STUDENTS so if STUDENTS don't feel they're being represented, go make your voices heard. we put the execs in office, they need to hear what we have to say
If you're upset about Fed Hall, contact Andrew Noble and let him know. The University administration is probably the party to blame for the Fed Hall issue taking so long to wrap up.
"expressing our displeasure via an internet medium" aka complaining on an anon website what FedS may not look at...?
I wasn't using the same medium to voice my approval for FedS, I was using the same medium to voice my counter-argument against those who are complaining.
There are many ways in which I actively support FedS in my daily life and I make sure to get involved so the right people know what's on my mind. I was simply inviting everyone to do the same and it's really not that hard at all.

Feds attracts the "look at me, I'm important" types.

Agree with both OP and #1.
June 25, 2012 at 6:46 PM
..because idiots voted them in?
June 25, 2012 at 7:17 PM
FedS execs are idiots eh?
Tell me more about how you yourself would have done such a better job :)
June 25, 2012 at 7:23 PM
I know a club full of people that would be inclined to agree with OP and #1
June 25, 2012 at 7:25 PM
A club full of people? Is that like a room or a pen?
A herd of humans, perhaps?

If you're going to complain, don't forgot less than 10% of the student population voted in the last FedS election.

Disband FEDS. Waste of money and resources.

I happen to like having non-food services-run restaurants, a cheap convenience store, my bus pass, my insurance, etc.
Still, I can think of a huge number of people on this campus who would do a worse job.
