OMG:
FEDs is sending its VP Education to a council meeting on Monday to comment on the Northdale Plan. Northdale is the area bounded by King Street, Columbia Street, Phillip Street, and University Avenue.

Supposedly his voice represents the voices of UW students. Where do I find out what is his stance on the Northdale Plan?

Go to his office and ask him.
    Or email him.

I plan on attending as well, though I haven't studied this issue much so I don't have an idea of what to say, if anything. If I see any comments here, I'll definitely take them into account though.

His name is Adam Garcia. Emailing him is your best bet since it's already Friday, vped@feds.uwaterloo.ca is what I found on the Feds website.

A list of feds policy can be found here:

There is one named Northdale Neighbourhood. Adam (as vped) is required to advocate based on Feds Policies such as this.

It is to be noted this says it was created in 2010 and Feds council made a new policy based on it to encompass all off campus housing in November 2011. An email sent to the council mailing list can be found here:
    http://lists.feds.ca/pipermail/council/2011-November/001610.html

This is an archived email. The email has a word doc attached to it (http://lists.feds.ca/pipermail/council/attachments/20111113/558dd3e1/attachment-0001.bin)

This is what Adam will be advocating by. If you have any questions or concerns, be sure to email him (vped@feds.ca) or your Feds representatives (http://feds.ca/governance/student-councillors)

I'm glad to see someone actually cares about being properly represented. I'm sure Adam Garcia would be more than pleased to talk to you. So would the VP Education in your student Society, who represent your interests to the faculty and also the university.

He's a bit late to the party... He hasn't done much around this whole Northdale thing since he came into office. It's like the final presentation... What's he possiblely going to say that will make a difference.
Him and Feds are more concerned about classroom experience (nothin wrong with that) than community issues

What ever his stance is, it isn't going to matter at this point. The project has been going on for over a year, and this is the final meeting. FedS is only sending someone now to maintain a right of appeal, whatever the decisions is by council.

If you are interested in the issue, I would recommend contacting the Waterloo Student Planning Advisory (uwspa.com, secretary@uwspa.com). They are a small student organization run primarily by students in UW's urban planning program. They have been involved with the Northdale project from the start, and held a seat on the Northdale Special Project Committee. They will be able to give a comprehensive picture of what the project has been about.
