I have an exam tonight at 7:30pm, and around 4pm I get an email saying "Does anyone know what's on the final exam??" Why even bother at that point?

If you have to cram, you didn't get it the first time and you'll forget it immediately after the exam. Crammers clearly get the most out of school...
