I think the idea of a therapy dog for stressed-out students sounds like a good one. I love dogs, but am somewhat allergic to them. I can spend a bit of time with them, but I can't own one. So I love this idea. I usually "borrow" my neighbour's dog, but it'd be nice to meet some new ones. I think we'd all be a lot less crabby, obnoxious, impatient, lonely, and bitter if we spent a half hour with a friendly dog.

So if you hate it so much, it's your own fault for not giving a crap and trying to get involved when you had the chance.

But living in residence, I met people that would let me use their printer whenever mine ran out of ink, they’d offer me food when they noticed I was hungry and didn't have enough money, they’d help with my assignments without me ever asking and if I left it until the last minute they’d even let me copy it. It really made me rethink the way I had been going about my life. So I just wanted to say thank you, Waterloo, for showing me a kindness that I didn’t think was possible, and helping me realize how much better we are when we look out for each other.

I applied to be a don for the fall/winter term next year. I am a first year, so I knew it'd be very hard to get in. The don selection process started in January, at which point I told my friends to all find a place without me, because I didn't want to screw them over if I did get the position and they'd be stuck finding someone else. I made it past the first step, the carousel, and got an interview for the Tuesday after reading week. They told me at the interview it'd be another 3 weeks before I found out if I got the position. By now, all of my friends had signed leases on their places, so I was really hoping to get it. I didn't. I found out last friday. None of my friends are without a home, so right now I'm alone in my search. I just wish they started the application process sooner so that people like me wouldn't get screwed over in the end.

The survey about the diplomas was just to see if students would like something a little less... dull.
A UW diploma should be instantly recognizable as such when someone sees it on the wall of an office. Not in a flashy laserific way - but the current one is hopelessly boring. They could stand to update it.
