OMG:
I never thought I would be the "rah rah School Spirit" person, but ever since I decided to become an Orientation Leader, I've just been an overall happier person. I'm more outgoing, more involved, and work even goes by quicker after I do a "ROWDY" and a "WATER, WATER, WATER" cheer. Kudos to me for stepping outside of my comfort zone!

I bet you were awful at figuring out what famous person you were.

<3 So glad to hear. I feel the same!

  3. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

Well... Unless you praise yourself, nobody else will, eh?

one other factor is that frosh leaders are a self-selected bunch of people who were chosen by administration for having a certain type of personality. Now everyone around you is at least somewhat similar to you, so you've probably found a bit of a niche and are finding that you thrive in that environment. Keep on it! And spread that enthusiasm :) This school needs more people like you.

Even after being a orientation leader, I still find myself to be so very bitter.

  6. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

@4 Administration doesnt choose orientation leaders. FOC do.

  7. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

Another anti-social individual at UW chooses to make friends through shitty organized events.

    Kudos.

    OP Here!

@1, Nah! I went through three famous people! I rocked that thing.
@3, Feeling accomplished and proud of myself is nothing to be ashamed of! I'll praise myself as much as I wants!

Bottom line: I'm glad I'm a Leader! It's definitely not for everyone, but as a first year off-campus student, I definitely felt out of the loop and a little lonely. I've met lots of friends so far through the Leadership process! Can't wait for O-Week 2011!

Becoming an o-week leader changed my life :) Glad you're enjoying yourself!

    Yay to Orientation Week!

I'll never be an Orientation leader (I don't have the energy / people skills -- I just can't handle being in charge of that many people, it's too much social pressure for me) but I'm glad you found so much value in it! My friends who have done it really loved it. I think it's a really amazing thing and, as a frosh a couple of years ago, I was extremely grateful for the enthusiasm of all my leaders!

Congratulaions, you've joined a cult. After Saturday's repetitive chant session, make sure to check out the kool-aid social! Drink up!

I feel the complete opposite. I've always been full of energy but being an orientation leader in MATH FACULTY for two years totally sucked the fun out of anything regarding school spirit for me. I want nothing to do with orientation. I am still very proud to be a math and waterloo student, but math orientation is just so PG-13, I can't take watching 18 year old frosh being treated like kindergarten children.

    @6: FOC = Administration

    Same! :)
